Objectives & scope

  • Policy analysis for required competencies of teacher educators for improving the research capacity of existing teacher education faculty and for new requirements. Situation analysis of the teacher education institutions that focused on assessing needs of human resources development for conducting research activities in these institutions; future directions in research (e.g. potential research topics, relevant methodologies, envisaged outcomes); implementation plan for promoting research in teacher education subsector in Sindh (including for instance: research capacity building plan for the institution, and research dissemination plan/ strategy). Apart from this a Sindh-wide survey of existing institutional arrangements for research, and the resources (faculty and informational) and facilities available for this task, for developing all the above-mentioned guiding material, international consultants along with Research Professional Development Specialists conducted a situational analysis of the Apex institutions including Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Centre Sindh, PITE Sindh and SETDA. Meetings with faculty and staff of these Apex institutions and Government Colleges for Elementary Education helped to ascertain their needs in conceiving, designing and conducting research in the field of teacher education in Sindh.
